You’re on the Right Track!

The goal you are chasing is important.

As Economics 101 taught us, when demand outstrips supply, what was expensive by most people’s standards becomes even more unaffordable. Therefore, we have to figure out ways to increase the amount of housing being created.

This much is clear: For at least ten or fifteen years, the demand for housing will outstrip the supply. That imbalance has the inevitable effect of pushing prices upward. Since the turn of the millennium the cost of constructing a new house has grown at three times the overall inflation rate as measured by the Consumer Price Index.

Today, you can start wheels in motion that will affect the way your community functions for years to come. The first step must be getting the right data. To that end, I want to give you some information that I believe is vital to understanding the stakes of affordable housing.
